July Club Night, as stated in the Newsletter, will involve workshopping a short play or plays. I realise that many people are leaving/have left Bangkok for the summer, but hope to see you there!

Meanwhile, for August (which is usually a similarly quiet time of the year!) we are planning on having a Pub Night.

The Bangkok Melody Makers!

The Bangkok Melody Makers is a new group being formed for people who would like to be part of a regular ensemble that sings and performs ‘musical theatre’ (as well as some of the classics) with some simple movement and choreography.

An evening of music, scenes and one-act plays
Friday, May 29th & Saturday, May 30th at 7:30 p.m.
In the British Club’s Surawongse Room (Silom Soi 18)

The evening showcases six exciting plays and musical excerpts staged by six different directors, with performances by more than 20 talented BCT actors! This evening promises to be an exciting one so make sure you reserve your seats now!

A bar will be available upstairs and a buffet dinner (B325) from 6:00 p.m. in the Verandah Bar. Lighter snacks such as sandwiches and samosas will also be for sale upstairs. Given the increasing popularity of this event, we ask that you book in advance. Those who turn up at the door without reservations may be turned away due to lack of space. Please email anna.khendry@gmail.com by May 26th at the latest with the date and names of those people attending.

As this is a forum for experimentation by both performers and directors, there is no charge for this event. However, a donation of Bt.100 per personis suggested.

Brush up your Shakespeare, bone up on 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch' and come along for a fun-filled evening of nostalgia and brain-teasers for the theatrically inclined!

May Club Night was very quiet, which may be because so many of us were busy with rehearsals, or may be a reflection of the fact that nobody likes Theatre Sports! Either way, I'm hoping to see a much bigger crowd for June, when we'll be holding a Theatre/Film Themed Quiz Night.

The plays have been chosen and cast, the directors are working hard with their actors to put together an exciting program for this year’s Bangkok Community Theatre Fringe Festival! Get ready for music and poetry this year, as well as a good deal of humour.

Men and Women of all nationalities (minimum age 16 years) are invited to attend auditions for BCT’s Fringe Festival 2009, an evening of one-act plays/scenes, to be performed in English in The British Club’s Suriwongse Room for BCT members and friends only at the end of May.

Following in the footsteps of a successful Sound of Music night, the BCT Singalong is back and this time Grease is the word! On Thursday, April 2nd and Friday April 3rd, The Bangkok Community Theatre presents “Grease Singalong” where you, the audience, are the stars of the show.

Activities begin at 7PM to renew or initiate your BCT membership. One complimentary drink for each paid up member, between 7pm and 7.30 pm. Official business meeting begins at 7:30PM

This will be followed by the presentation of the BOBs Awards and complimentary finger food buffet. Many door prizes to be won!
